Vascular surgery and vein care in Denver

We use detailed ultrasounds to see if the valves in your leg veins are functioning properly. We also perform ultrasounds before surgery to mark and map the veins, and after surgery to make sure that the problem has been corrected.

Why choose a vascular surgeon?

Vascular surgeons are extensively trained in all matters related to vascular diseases. They can treat vein care patients with diverse treatment options and are the primary experts for everything from vascular surgery to minimally invasive procedures and management consultation. The treatments we provide at Specialized Vein Care offer distinct advantages over other types of care.

Our vascular specialists provide a range of nonsurgical and surgical treatments, including:

Lymphedema treatment

Doctors treat lymphedema with complete decongestive therapy, which is a combination of lymph drainage, compression bandaging, skin care, exercise, and instructions for self-care. At first, it involves daily visits with a certified lymphedema therapist until the patient can manage the condition themselves.

Radiofrequency ablation and endovenous laser ablation

Radiofrequency ablation uses radiofrequency waves via a catheter inserted in the diseased vein. This energy targets and heats the collagen in the vein wall, causing the vein to shrink around the catheter and close. Over time, the closed vein is absorbed by the body.

Endovenous laser ablation uses a laser heating element via a laser optic fiber inserted into the diseased vein. Doctors deliver variable frequencies of energy to the vein wall, which then contracts and collapses. This type of closure causes clotting of the vein, which in turn closes the vein.

Varicose vein surgery

A phlebectomy is a minimally invasive procedure that removes the visible varicose veins on the surface of the leg. It is performed along with radiofrequency ablation, which treats chronic venous insufficiency, the underlying cause of the varicose veins.

Ambulatory phlebectomy, also known as microphlebectomy, is the removal of a large or medium-sized varicose vein through a tiny incision in the leg. The incision allows the doctor to remove the vein and close the pinpoint hole with a small butterfly bandage.
